Wine Bio for Bruce Cochran Bruce Cochran has been in the wine trade since 1978, as a retailer, wholesaler, importer, writer, teacher and trip leader. Since 1982 he has been teaching wine courses at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock’s Continuing Education Department and the Arkansas Extended Learning Center. He has conducted over 1,500 public wine events in the U.S., Canada, France, Italy, Chile and Argentina and in over thirty towns in his home state of Arkansas. A 1983 graduate of the German Wine Academy in Oestrich-Winkel, Germany, he has visited nearly every major wine region on four continents. He is a founding member of the Little Rock Wine Society, the Little Rock Chapter of the German Wine Society, and several other wine groups around Arkansas. A former wine columnist for Arkansas Times, Active Years Magazine and Little Rock Soiree, he has also been quoted in USA Today, The Los Angeles Times, Wine Spectator, Wines and Vines, and several major newspapers in the U.S. and Canada. He has also appeared on television’s Entertainment Tonight. Since 2001 he has been a judge at the Arkansas State Fair wine competition, and is also a trained Memphis in May competition barbeque judge. In addition to teaching wine courses, he also publishes Notes from Wine Class, a monthly continuing education newsletter distributed through dozens of retail wine stores, and Bruce's eWine of the Week, a weekly email update with a wine lesson with recommended wine. His weekly radio show--"Let's Eat!"--devoted to food, wine and travel, is live from Little Rock Wednesday mornings from 8:30 am to 9:00 (FM 88.3) |
